       What does Truly

     Halter Broke Mean?

   ROUND PEN ARENA

    Friday @ 11:30

Most folks think a halter broke horse is just one that lets you slip a halter on and follow you around—but that’s only the beginning. A real foundation starts long before the saddle ever goes on, and it all begins with true halter breaking.

Come take a look behind the scenes and discover what a fully halter broke horse can do. You’ll explore the softness, respect, communication, and trust that turn a horse from “manageable” into “partner.” Step into a whole new side of horsemanship and see the difference a solid halter-broke foundation makes!

What Your Horse’s Hooves Are Trying to Tell You

   ROUND PEN ARENA

    Saturday @ 11:15

Join me for a down-to-earth, no-nonsense (but slightly humorous) dive into one of the most important — and most misunderstood — parts of the horse: the hoof. We’ll talk about the simple, controllable factors every horse owner can manage to set their horse up for the strongest, healthiest feet possible.

From nutrition and environment to movement and trimming cycles, we’ll break down how small daily choices can lead to big improvements. And yes — we’ll discuss those mysterious hoof growth rings, what they reveal about stress, diet, and overall health, and when they’re totally normal (or not).

Whether you’re new to hoof care or just hoof-obsessed, you’ll leave knowing exactly what your horse’s feet are saying… and how to make sure they’re saying something good.

This presentation teaches our approach to working with horses through breathwork and self-regulation. By regulating themselves first, riders can communicate more softly, build trust, and reduce tension or behavioral issues.

This compassionate, partnership-based method emphasizes listening, patience, and consistency, allowing both horse and human to feel safe, connected, and supported. Ultimately, a breath becomes a bridge—deepening the relationship, improving balance, and fostering harmony between horse and rider.

 Brand Inspector Deputy

Saturday @ 12:15

You can get your brand inspection with your personal horse done on sight

From 12:45 to 1:45

You’ve got questions. The Brand Inspector has answers.

Have you ever wondered what you actually need to travel in and out of the State of Idaho with your horse? Maybe you’ve heard one thing from a friend, another from a neighbor, and something completely different from your favorite Facebook equine group.

This session cuts through the noise.

Learn how brand inspections really work, when they are required, and why they matter when buying or selling a horse. Thinking about getting a brand of your own but unsure where to start or how to apply? We’ll cover that too. We’ll also talk through real-world scenarios, like what happens when a horse is bought without an inspection and a problem later arises. Who truly owns the horse—the person holding the brand papers or the bill of sale?

You may be surprised to learn that brand inspections are affordable, and lifetime brand inspections are an option.

Have a horse that needs a 2026 brand inspection? Bring them with you. Brand inspectors will be available for a short time on Saturday, March 14th, to complete inspections onsite.

Clear answers. Correct information. Peace of mind for you and your horses.

 Fears and Frustrations: Understanding EHV

There are many things about horse ownership that are wonderful and exciting.  There are also some things that can be frustrating or scary.  Recently the neurologic form of Equine Herpes Virus, or EHM, has had a significant worldwide affect on equine events.  My purpose in this presentation is to educate the horse owner on this virus, the disease process, and provide strategies to minimize the risk as they travel with their equine companions.

Why Good Horses Break Down Early—and What the Feet Have to Do With It

Many horses today are well bred, well fed, and well trained, yet they break down earlier than ever. Lameness, soft-tissue injuries, navicular changes, and joint issues are often treated as isolated problems, but they frequently share a common starting point: the hoof.
In this presentation, equine hoof specialist Jim Norman explores how modern trimming and shoeing practices affect biomechanics, impact loading, and long-term soundness. Using real-world examples from working and performance horses, he connects the dots between the foot, the rest of the body, and a horse’s usable lifespan, without hype, dogma, or one-size-fits-all answers.
